Your role
The Enterprise Architect – Banking & Financial Services will support major banking and financial services clients in BENE area by defining and governing enterprise-wide architecture strategies.
The role focuses on aligning business strategy, regulatory requirements, and IT landscapes, supporting large-scale transformation initiatives such as core banking modernization, digital platforms, cloud adoption, and data-driven architectures.
As part of adesso’s architecture and banking practices, the Enterprise Architect acts as a trusted advisor, working closely with client executives, business leaders, and delivery teams to ensure sustainable, compliant, and scalable enterprise solutions.
Define and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks aligned with business strategy and transformation roadmaps.
Develop current-state and target-state architectures across business, application, data, and technology layers.
Guide and govern solution architects and delivery teams to ensure architectural consistency.
Support core banking, payments, lending, and digital channel transformation initiatives.
Establish architecture principles, standards, and reference architectures.
Ensure compliance with banking regulations, security, and data protection requirements.
Collaborate with business, IT, risk, compliance, and external vendors.
Evaluate and select technologies, platforms, and strategic partners.
Support migration planning, dependency management, and architecture decision forums.
Contribute to pre-studies, architecture assessments, and transformation blueprints.
Key Challenges:
Aligning enterprise architecture with evolving banking strategies and regulatory demands (EBA, ECB, NBB, DNB, FSMA).
Managing complex, heterogeneous landscapes combining legacy core systems and modern cloud-native platforms.
Defining target architectures across multiple domains (business, application, data, integration, technology).
Governing architecture decisions in large, multi-vendor transformation programs.
Supporting cross-country, multi-language stakeholder environments within the BeNeLux market.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
Strong experience with enterprise architecture in banking or financial services.
Deep understanding of core banking systems, payments platforms, and digital banking architectures.
Solid knowledge of architecture frameworks (TOGAF, ArchiMate).
Experience with:
Cloud & hybrid architectures (Azure, AWS, GCP)
API-driven and event-based integration architectures
Microservices and platform-based ecosystems
Strong understanding of data architectures, data governance, and analytics platforms.
Familiarity with security architecture, IAM, and regulatory-driven controls.
Your profile
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Business, or related fields.
Required / Preferred certifications:
TOGAF (Certified or Practitioner)
ArchiMate (preferred)
Cloud certifications (Azure/AWS/GCP – nice to have)
10+ years of experience in IT or business architecture roles.
Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect in banking or financial services.
Track record in large-scale transformation programs (core banking, digital platforms, cloud migration).
Experience in the Belgian and/or Dutch financial services market is a strong advantage
Consulting experience is preferred.
Strategic and conceptual thinking with a pragmatic delivery mindset.
Strong communication skills at executive and delivery levels.
Ability to influence without direct authority.
Collaborative, structured, and quality-driven approach.
Comfortable operating in complex, regulated, multi-cultural environments.
Bilingual in Dutch/French and fluent in English (both written and spoken).
