Your role
The Senior Business Analyst / Consultant – Banking will support Belgian banking clients in analysing, designing, and optimizing end-to-end banking processes and systems across retail and/or corporate banking domains.
The role focuses on bridging business and IT, supporting digital transformation initiatives, and ensuring regulatory-compliant delivery across key banking functions such as accounts, payments, lending, customer onboarding, and channels (digital & branch) within the Belgian banking landscape.
As part of adesso’s banking practice, the consultant will act as a trusted expert resource, working on client-side transformation programs while leveraging adesso’s delivery and technology capabilities.
Analyse and document business requirements and translate them into functional and non-functional specifications.
Collaborate with business stakeholders (operations, product, compliance, risk) and IT teams.
Map current-state and target-state processes using BPMN/UML and identify optimization opportunities.
Support digital transformation initiatives (digital onboarding, instant payments, lending automation, customer self-service).
Define test scenarios, support UAT, and ensure successful implementation of banking solutions.
Work closely with solution architects and developers to ensure functional consistency and scalability.
Support integration of third-party services (payment providers, credit bureaus, AML tools, open banking APIs).
Ensure data quality, process efficiency, and regulatory adherence throughout delivery.
Act as a subject-matter expert supporting client workshops, change initiatives, and go-live activities.
Key Challenges:
Managing complex functional requirements across multiple banking domains (payments, lending, KYC, onboarding, channels).
Aligning business needs with modern core banking platforms and digital front-end solutions.
Ensuring compliance with Belgian and EU banking regulations (PSD2/PSD3, AML, KYC, GDPR, NBB/FSMA).
Supporting modernization initiatives in legacy core banking environments.
Operating in a trilingual (FR/EN/NL) and multi-stakeholder context (business, IT, compliance, vendors).
Required Skills & Knowledge:
Strong understanding of banking products and processes:
Retail Banking (accounts, payments, cards, lending, onboarding) and/or
Corporate Banking (cash management, lending, trade finance).
Knowledge of Belgian and EU banking regulations:
PSD2/PSD3, AML/KYC, GDPR
NBB / FSMA guidelines.
Experience with core banking systems, payment platforms, or lending systems.
Solid background in business analysis methodologies (Agile, BABOK, BPMN, UML).
Experience with digital banking platforms and process automation.
Data literacy: ability to analyse and interpret business data (SQL, Power BI, or similar).
Understanding of API-based integrations, microservices, and open banking concepts
Your profile
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or Information Systems.
Preferred certifications: CBAP or Agile Business Analyst / Scrum / SAFe (nice to have) / Lean Six Sigma (nice to have)
Minimum 7 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Consultant in the banking sector.
Proven track record in banking process optimization or digital transformation initiatives.
Experience in the Belgian or BeNeLux banking market is essential.
Hands-on experience with large-scale banking programs (payments modernization, digital channels, regulatory compliance, core banking transformation).
Bilingual in Dutch/French and fluent in English (both written and spoken).
Open for hybrid employment: you will work on site at the customer’s premises, combined with working at Adesso Brussels and remote homeworking.
