At adesso Belgium, we are looking for a senior data architect to support our customer in national security.

Your role

As a senior data architect, you design and manage complex data structures and systems and optimize data flows in line with the department's strategy. You define data strategies, ensure data integrity and scalability, and set standards for data management. In consultation with stakeholders, you translate data requirements into technical solutions. You provide documentation so that all stakeholders understand the data model from their perspective. Naturally, you ensure that everything complies with regulations. You are enthusiastic about innovation, such as implementing new technologies and data analysis tools.

Required Experience

As a senior data architect you have technical knowledge in:

  • You have good technical knowledge of databases, both SQL and NoSQL.

  • You have in-depth knowledge of Apache Nifi or an equivalent data flow/data transformation tool

  • You have a fundamental understanding of data and data and application lifecycle management, CI/CD

  • You have experience using development tools (JetBrains, for example) and database management tooling

  • You have strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems

  • You know the strengths and weaknesses of Graph databases and can apply this knowledge to your data models

Other experience/background:

  • min 10 years of experience in data architecture roles

  • You are results-oriented, not only for yourself but also for the team.

  • You have an excellent knowledge of the life cycle and phases of a software development project, the different roles and tooling.

  • You have experience with at least one of the Agile project management methods (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc.).

  • You have extensive experience with big data technologies to enhance and analyse large amounts of data.

  • You have experience with modern concepts such as data lakes, AI/ML integrations and real-time data processing.

  • You ensure optimal readable and consultable documentation in English.

  • You demonstrate leadership.

  • You coach junior and mid-level data architects and you work closely with other teams.

Other requirements:

  • Belgian citizenship is a must; you have a security clearance or you agree to obtain one.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Fluent in English; Native Dutch or French speaker is a must

  • Willingness to work 5 days per week onsite in Brussels (flexible work hours)
